History
The concept of foundation of Botanical
garden in Kragujevac first appeared with the studies of nature and flora
on this region undertook by Josif Pancic (1847). The realization of this
concept became more promising after the foundation of Institute of Biology
(now Institute of Biology and Ecology).
As an investor, Faculty of Science provided preliminary conditions for
creating the project of Botanical garden in 1993, and in the same year
the general design was elaborated.
Opening ceremony of foundation of Botanical garden was on 8th September
1997.
The main project consisting of the first phase of arrangement of available
surfaces for the area of about 8 hectares was completed in 2000.

Management
Management and activities concerning the development of the Garden were accredited to Faculty of Science in Kragujevac. Botanical garden is a special organizational unit within the Institute of Biology and Ecology of Faculty of Science in Kragujevac. Thus, Botanical garden is today, and will be in future, a permanent activity of the Institute of Biology and Ecology and Faculty of Science.
