RESEARCH INTEREST
The research activity of Živadin Bugarčić and his team mainly focuses on mechanistic studies of chemical reactions in solution. The aim of the research is to correlate kinetic, thermodynamic and structural properties of transition metal complexes in their interaction with biologically relevant molecules. However, we investigated the influence of the structural changes to the reactivity of the complexes. The interactions of metal ions and biologically relevant molecules are very important not only from the fundamental, but also from the biological and medical point of view. We synthesized the new Pt(II), dinuclear Pt(II), Pt(IV), Pd(II), Au(III) and Ru(II/III) complexes and investigated their interactions with biologically important molecules such as peptides, amino acids, fragments of DNA, enzymes and their anticancer activity.
